Can we mulligan my week?

A silence falls over the spectators. The stadium echoes every murmur, every breath. Then all at once

I had planned to overhaul the post list based on several designs I drafted, and fix several smaller issues. This was progressing well until a friend’s laptop needed a fix.

Tripping Point

It started with a battery replacement. I didn’t replace it, but found someone who could. They also asked if I could do a fresh install.

Okay this next bit is a bit of a rant, so feel free to skip over it.

FUCK WINDOWS SURFACE COMPUTERS. FUCK THEIR WEIRD ASS WAY TO REINSTALL WINDOWS 11. FUCK THE FACT THAT NONE OF THE DRIVERS ARE INCLUDED BY DEFAULT IN THEIR RECOMMEDED METHOD OR FROM A REGULAR ISO. FUCK THEIR DRIVERS BEING PACKAGED IN A STRANGE EXE FILE. AND FINALLY, FUCK HAVING TO FIND WORKING WIFI DRIVERS.

It was a 2 day fix, as I kept needing to buy more gear to reinstall windows. I ended up buying a USB dock, Mouse, Keyboard, and USB Key.

Generally, you don’t need to do a fresh install of windows. You can just refresh the PC, and it’ll be good enough. However, when I did, it started blue screening. Okay, that’s fine I thought, it’s probably booting from the wrong device (it wasn’t).

So I had to reinstall windows on the surface laptop using the “recommended method” … the keyboard, and trackpad didn’t work because there are no inbuilt drivers. It only has one USB A port, so I have to buy a hub for the peripherals.

After I managed to install windows, I was looking for a way to get drivers onto the surface. Microsoft’s website firstly kept pushing me to just use windows update (without internet because WIFI drivers were kill). The other recommendation was to use a weird executable file which seemed to solve it.

Spread that (Game) jam

So there’s a spooky 4 week long game jam that I really want to join. I’ll probably need the full 4 weeks to produce something another would take a few days to make (cos I’m stupid).

I want to keep working on finishing this site, but I want to start making a game for the jam. Even if it’s fairly low quality, it’ll be fun and hopefully relatively quick and easy.

My signoffs will be a question I pose to you, or something you should ponder.
