Late again … sorry.

Okay okay, I have an excuse. I’m moving from my temporary abode to another country. I also have to help a few others move and so all that work is on me to do.

I decided to make a stamp this week. Something simple and quick (as I’m only starting a day after my scheduled post day).
As always, I started with some research and a rough sketch. Most wax stamp kits have a standard size of 25mm, so my goal was the try and match that. The stamp kits sometime use replaceable coins so it would be nice if my stamp could use those existing stamp signet. However, while implementing the design, I found some of my chosen sizes needed to be shrunk. This resulted in the stamp size exceeding 25mm, but this should be easily fixed. I am hoping to do a test print before I try and correct it.
The initial designs are
Rough Sketch

Clean Sketch

During design, I struggled to fully constrain the handle, but it turns out, you don’t always need a fully constrained model.
The result turned out the following three objects.
Stamp Body

Stamp Coin

Coin Holder

And it’ll be put together like so.

I plan to allow custom SVG’s to be etched onto the coin piece. This will allow users to quickly print custom signets. As long as I don’t use PLA, the plastic should last (Unless wax gets hotter than like 200 degrees Celsius). The only thing I have left to find a way to add a thread between the stamp and coin holder.
A future iteration of this design will include notches to help align the coin, I think this just makes sense.
I am missing my homelab as I’ve been away from home for a few months now. I’m looking into options to access my home network while outside without exposing it to any risks.
I’ve been looking into wireguard, but I don’t have a static IP address. Tailscale seems to be the solution. It allows me to VPN into my home network (using wireguard), but without the need to use a static IP. The only issue is I’ll need to be home to set it up … but I guess next time it’ll be good.
I should say, it’s really nice for the tailscale company to let non-commercial customers use their service for free.

My next post will be more website changes. I think I’ll also set myself a goal of drawing a fox character to represent me. I’ll try to draw them once a week to hopefully progressively improve and eventually draw a good one.
Now on to you for a bit of reflection. What’s the last project you’ve fallen behind on, and how did you get back on track?
